FREE COMMUNITY TESTING THIS WEEKEND
The GTCHD, Michigan National Guard and Michigan State Police are coordinating to offer free COVID-19 testing for any Michigan resident interested in being tested. The testing will take place Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at Turtle Creek Stadium, home of the Traverse City Pit Spitters, located 6 miles south of Traverse City off of U.S. 31. Test results are expected within 3-4 days.

PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY FOR SOME BEACHES
The GTCHD issued a NO BODY CONTACT ADVISORY for the following areas due to a sewage spill during yesterday’s storm. This advisory will remain in effect until daily tests show it is safe to resume contact. Please avoid contact with the water in these areas until further notice:
  • The Boardman River from the pedestrian bridge to the mouth at West Grand Traverse Bay
  • Private beachfront property east of Boardman River to Bryant Park
  • Clinch Park Beach
  • Sunset Beach
  • Bryant Park Beach
  • Traverse City Senior Center.

Health experts also remind everyone to stay out of storm water and to assume it is contaminated. It is recommended that if residents need to work in the storm water, that they are current on their tetanus immunization due to possible contact with unknown debris. For updates please check the GTCHD public beach monitoring page.
