Grand Traverse County COVID-19 Community Update - June 19, 2020


DAILY NUMBERS AND COMMUNITY TESTING

The Grand Traverse County Health Department (GTCHD) reports 37 positive cases, 6 probable cases, 19 recoveries, and 5 deaths in Grand Traverse County residents. Additional statistics are available on the County’s dashboard

 

Two new positive cases have been reported since Monday’s update (6/15/20) 

  • Female in her 50’s, asymptomatic, no known community exposure, close contacts have been notified
  • Female in her 20’s, case investigation is in progress.  

 

The GTCHD has received most results from the 835 tests performed at the National Guard community testing event May 30 and 31 at Turtle Creek Stadium. The positive results have been included in the daily numbers count and the GTCHD has followed up on all positive cases.   

 

Regionally, Munson Healthcare is reporting COVID-19 testing results on its website for each of its hospitals. Numbers listed are by hospital, not county of residence.

 

Michigan has reported 60,618 positive cases and 5,818 deaths of COVID-19. 44,964 have recovered in Michigan.

No charge for testing, though they will be collecting insurance information for that those are insured.

This testing is available for MI residents regardless of symptoms. No doctor's referral is needed.

FRONT ST. CHANGES START MONDAY 

In an effort to allow shoppers and diners more space to practice social distancing, the DDA, in cooperation with the City of Traverse City and Downtown business owners, are opening Front Street between Park Street and Union Street to pedestrians only beginning Monday, June 22nd. To help with vehicle traffic during this closure, State Street – also between Park Street and Union Street – will change from a one-way street to a two-way street.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department’s reopening toolkits are available on the Health Department website.

 

STAY SAFE TO STAY OPEN
Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to Stay Safe to Stay Open. This includes the following measures while in public:

  • Staying 6 feet apart 
  • Wearing masks
  • Limiting large social gatherings 
  • Continuing basic prevention measures like frequent hand washing
  • Following workplace safety protocols.
